Day Two of our Super Bowl Party week, and we’re going sweet. Really sweet.  Like, over-the-top decadently so, with a rich and creamy (yet oh-so-easy) peanut butter cup cheesecake dip!

Do you love peanut butter? Do you love cheesecake?  How about peanut butter cups?  Then you are going to love this dip!

I know appetizers and finger-foods are key for football parties, but people love desserts, too!  I’ve made this chocolate chip cookie dough dip for many football parties in the past, and people rave about it.

Dessert dips are totally the way to go when it comes to hosting a big crowd.  Easy to make, make ahead of time, and you can snack one-handed while crowding around the TV.

The Easiest Dessert Dip

Seven ingredients.  Five minutes.  That’s all you need to make this peanut butter cup cheesecake dip.  Perfect for your Super Bowl party.

To make this dip, you need:

  • cream cheese
  • butter
  • brown sugar
  • peanut butter
  • vanilla extract
  • heavy cream
  • peanut butter cups

That’s it.  I’d also recommend things to dip into it, but you know, fingers, spoons, etc., are all just as delicious.  The vehicle you use to get the dip into your mouth really doesn’t matter all that much.

The most common question I get about this peanut butter cheesecake dip is if you can use granulated sugar instead of brown sugar. I get it – not everyone keeps brown sugar around, or perhaps you were all set to make this dip and discover that yours is as hard as a rock!

In a baking emergency situation, by all means, use the granulated sugar! The dip will still be good. But there is one very big reason why I prefer to use brown sugar off the bat, which can all be explained by my favorite subject, kitchen chemistry.

Kitchen Chemistry

Brown sugar has a higher moisture content than granulated sugar due to the molasses it contains. This extra moisture can prevent the dip from drying out, even after refrigeration, resulting in a smoother, creamier, less gritty texture.

Make Ahead Cheesecake Dip

Not only does this only require seven ingredients, you can make the whole thing ahead of time!  Days ahead of time.  Make it on Wednesday after work and enjoy it on Sunday for your Super Bowl party.

Nothing makes entertaining easier than checking things off your list way in advance.

You can serve the dip right out of the fridge, but it’s pretty hard and stiff.  As the cream cheese and butter chill in the fridge, the dip gets more solid.  It’s hard to scoop some up with a graham cracker or pretzel without it breaking.

My advice: let it sit out at room temperature for 20-30 minutes, then give it a quick whip with an electric mixer.  Make the dip ahead of time and store it in an airtight food storage container in the refrigerator. Before serving for your party, let it sit out for a bit, then scoop it into your mixer bowl (or any bowl to use with a hand mixer), whip it back into a fluffy state, and scoop it into a serving bowl.

Arrange some dippable things around it, and you’re done.

So easy.

Serving Ideas and Suggestions

A spoon.  That’s all you need.  (Ha.)

In all seriousness, anything that you would eat with peanut butter is delicious in this dip.  Graham crackers.  Vanilla wafers.  Chocolate chip cookies. Oreo cookies.

The salty-sweet combination is the best so I love pretzels with a big scoop of this cheesecake dip.  Maybe even potato chips?

Want to add a little fruit to your dessert table?  Apples, strawberries, or frozen banana slices are amazing with this dip.  (And adding fruit makes it a health food right? Right….?  No, okay fine.)

Tips and Tricks for the Best Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake Dip

  1. Room Temperature Ingredients: Bring the cream cheese up to room temperature before mixing so it will blend more easily with the peanut butter and other ingredients.
  2. Creamy Peanut Butter: Use creamy peanut butter for a smoother dip, or crunchy peanut butter if you prefer more texture. Either commercial or natural peanut butter will work in this dip;
  3. Chill Before Serving: For the best flavor, allow the dip to chill in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours before serving to help enhance the flavors.
  4. Make Ahead: Save yourself time and make the dip ahead of time for an easy and convenient stress-free party treat! For a lighter consistency easier to scoop onto your dippers, whip the dip with a mixer or blender briefly just before serving.
  5. Refrigerate Leftovers: Leftover peanut butter cup cheesecake dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
